An Angolan Air Force Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft is being refurbished at the Belotserkovsky Cargo Aircraft Complex (BVAK) in Bila Tserkva, central Ukraine, to extend its operational life, the company announced on 26 December.
It released photographs and a video showing an Angolan Il-76TD, with the number, T-902 after its arrival at the Bila Tserkva airfield on 23 December.
BVAK said the work was being carried out by Aviamir, which specialises in maintaining Il-76 and An-12 aircraft.
Photographs on the Aviamir website show that it has already worked on an Angolan Air Force Il-76TD as well as the Il-76TD that is operated by the government of the Republic of Congo.
The BVAK statement noted that getting the Il-76 from Angola to Ukraine had been difficult because the type can be used for both civilian and military purposes, which meant that additional permits had to be obtained.
